Heart Game Sign-Ups
We are running Heart Games on February 6th - 12th. We will have a post at that time for people to link their Heart Games and a toplevel for runners to submit scoring. All heart games will be posted in the player's character journal.
• What a heart game is:
A heart game is one wherein you enter the psyche of a character and explore their mind (or more metaphorically, their heart). It's usually run in the form of multiple rooms with puzzles, interactive items or NPCs, monsters-- anything and everything that might represent something to the character whose Heart you're in.
• How to score:
Scoring for a heart game depends largely on the goal of the runner, who will put forth what it is when they set up sign ups. There are a few different goals but this time around, we'll primarily be focusing on two possible types:
► True Heart
If the heart runner is more interested in displaying aspects of the character's personality, then the goal is more to get to the "True Heart" (essence of self for that person). Anything done in the heart in these games may or may not have a signficiant impact, but it's not the overall goal of them.
► Fix-It
Sometimes a character has a problem that they have difficulty solving on their own. For these people, a "fix-it heart" might be ideal. With these ones, changes are of paramount importance and so the more fixes or changes done, the higher an individual's score will be.
The runners will have to turn in each character's score on a 1-10 scale. The winners will be based on the average for the team. Sign-ups will be for specific time slots (one or more) based on runner preference. They can run as many sessions as they like (between 3 and five hours per session, though they can run longer also based on runner preference). Any player can be scored for running in multiple hearts, but if they run in one person's heart multiple times may only be scored for one of those runs.
Runners, please submit a toplevel with the following: your game schedule, running capacity, and any content warnings you may need!
Players, please comment to the toplevels and make sure to let the runner know which time slot(s) you intend to be in.
We will have a comment here if anyone wants to link to an example of a heart game they have run in the past. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.
