Your character wakes up in a neat bedroom in their team carriage, in nondescript underwear. They might be missing their memories, or their special abilities, or they may just feel a little queasy. Next to them is what seems to be a smartphone, which they know how to use even if they never had before, even if they don't know if they have before. On the screen is a simple message:

Welcome aboard the Aurora!

You have been selected by the Star Prince as a potential hero, tasked with saving the universe from Malice. As a passenger I, your Construct and Conductor, will attempt to provide you with quality lodgings and safety. In return, we ask that you join your fellows in making bonds and doing your utmost to bring joy back to the Stars.

Due to the process of restoring your body, you may find some things are missing. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to return them to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.

Upon investigation, you'll find some basic clothes matching your team's theme in the storage provided in your room. Or, perhaps, you're wandering out of the room still undressed. Either way, downstairs you'll find someone has left a tray of cups of hot tea on the living room table. Drinking it may be simply pleasant, or it may cause you to feel a sudden need to warm up to the others in your carriage -- emotionally or physically. Welcome to the team, newbie!

Shortly after your arrival, you find yourself wrapped up in some kind of Trial. You're inside what appears to be a stone temple, with a massive golden scale on one wall. Suddenly, on one side, a heavy metal weight is dropped. As the scales tip out of balance, the floor begins to slowly disappear, brick by brick, ready to drop you -- and whoever is with you -- into an abyss. Your only hope comes in the form of an inscription on the altar:

How much do your secrets weigh?

Every secret you tell causes a weight to fall onto the other side of the scale. The bigger the secret, the bigger the weight. If you can collectively tip the scales, the floor will quit dropping bricks and a door will appear to allow you back to the train. If you can't, you'll fall, seemingly forever, til you pass out. When you wake up you'll find yourself unable to lie.

★ Three
You've been on the Aurora for a while, so the change when you wake up today is immediately obvious. The outside of the train is completely covered in thick, rotten-smelling marshmallow fluff. The air even inside the train feels stagnant, but it's a bit hard to open windows and doors. Should you manage it, you'll find the fluff houses large, two-headed gummy worms, which... attack on sight. They can and will eat you, with sharp sugar teeth and a sour coating that burns in your wounds. To kill them, each head must be simultaneously struck down -- and the blows must come from two different people.

Time to team up!

"Curious.' muses the inventor since if her hunch is right the smell could be weaponized. She does however keep her screwdriver within reach, that ray gun run-in had taught her a lot. But she skirts the worms with grace only gained from war and over 6 months on the run. "But just need to find parts, pretty sure I can rig up a crossbow."

[ Some guy — who folks may or may not recognise as looking an awful lot like Mao — can be found in the dining car this morning, wearing nothing except the pyjama bottoms he woke up in and the sweet, sweet tattoos covering his back and shoulderblades. He seems to be brewing himself a mug of coffee. Or is that, three mugs of coffee? Four …? ]

Alright? [ Whether you approach quietly or announce yourself, he turns to greet you, gently waggling a mug in lieu of a wave. ]

[ ~~Old man yells at c~~ Young man yells at stone temple ceiling: ]

Oi! Oi, oi, oi! Mate! How'm I supposed to know "how much my secrets weigh"? I got here this morning!

[ Somebody seems a little indignant. ]

[That is certainly a familiar face. And smell. And...wow, okay, that is a lot of mugs.]

I should ask the same. You just woke up and you're already tired?

Really, things are just going to get curiouser because that's suddenly a yellow, oddly proportioned unicorn whose throwing a rock with magic at the worm head to throw it back.

"Can you really rig up a crossbow on the fly? Making parts would be a lot easier then a full weapon!"

Make that a talking yellow unicorn.

[ ??? - oh, wait ]

Alright's a greeting, not really a question. [ Welcome to the fun world of British slang. ] And if I'm going to be honest, mate, I'm not sure I am awake.

[ He leans against the counter, sipping slowly. ]

On a scale of one to ten, with one being milk and ten being battery acid, how d'you take yours?

I don't....think so? [How do colonies work, are they associated with specific countries or their own thing? Who knows.] Heavily influenced by American culture is probably accurate.

We'll say five. I can drink any coffee, whatever it's form, I just prefer sweet.
