Your character wakes up in a neat bedroom in their team carriage, in nondescript underwear. They might be missing their memories, or their special abilities, or they may just feel a little queasy. Next to them is what seems to be a smartphone, which they know how to use even if they never had before, even if they don't know if they have before. On the screen is a simple message:
Welcome aboard the Aurora!

You have been selected by the Star Prince as a potential hero, tasked with saving the universe from Malice. As a passenger I, your Construct and Conductor, will attempt to provide you with quality lodgings and safety. In return, we ask that you join your fellows in making bonds and doing your utmost to bring joy back to the Stars.

Due to the process of restoring your body, you may find some things are missing. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to return them to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
★ One
Upon investigation, you'll find some basic clothes matching your team's theme in the storage provided in your room. Or, perhaps, you're wandering out of the room still undressed. Either way, downstairs you'll find someone has left a tray of cups of hot tea on the living room table. Drinking it may be simply pleasant, or it may cause you to feel a sudden need to warm up to the others in your carriage -- emotionally or physically. Welcome to the team, newbie!

☆ Two
Shortly after your arrival, you find yourself wrapped up in some kind of Trial. You're inside what appears to be a stone temple, with a massive golden scale on one wall. Suddenly, on one side, a heavy metal weight is dropped. As the scales tip out of balance, the floor begins to slowly disappear, brick by brick, ready to drop you -- and whoever is with you -- into an abyss. Your only hope comes in the form of an inscription on the altar:
How much do your secrets weigh?
Every secret you tell causes a weight to fall onto the other side of the scale. The bigger the secret, the bigger the weight. If you can collectively tip the scales, the floor will quit dropping bricks and a door will appear to allow you back to the train. If you can't, you'll fall, seemingly forever, til you pass out. When you wake up you'll find yourself unable to lie.

★ Three
You've been on the Aurora for a while, so the change when you wake up today is immediately obvious. The outside of the train is completely covered in thick, rotten-smelling marshmallow fluff. The air even inside the train feels stagnant, but it's a bit hard to open windows and doors. Should you manage it, you'll find the fluff houses large, two-headed gummy worms, which... attack on sight. They can and will eat you, with sharp sugar teeth and a sour coating that burns in your wounds. To kill them, each head must be simultaneously struck down -- and the blows must come from two different people.

Time to team up!

You've been on the Aurora for a while, but you've never seen this before. Today as you exit the train you find it, and the ground around it, coated in a growth of colourful sugar crystals. Some as tiny as blades of grass, some as large as a person, the rock candy is slightly iridescent and quite beautiful. Unfortunately, once you touch it you find yourself overwhelmed by whatever emotion you were feeling at that moment. Your feelings are out of control, and only talking them through with another person can calm them.

What do you do?

You cannot escape it. The crab is everywhere, no matter where you go. No matter how far you run, no matter how you try to escape it. Helpfully, there is a message on your Chain that says the crab will leave you alone if you make a new friend.

You've been on the Aurora for awhile, but this is new. One morning, you awaken to find yourself in the lounge, rather than your own bed. On your Chain is a screen showing a key, with three unmarked check boxes and a note: you've been locked out of your carriage, and must make a meaningful pact of some sort with three people, on or off your team, to enter. Pinky promises are always encouraged!

You've been on the Aurora for a while, maybe you've even started to grow used to it. Used to the train, used to used to the slow but steady revival of the world around you into something less hostile, used to the trials, maybe even used to the people. The singing tree, however, is new. You're pretty sure that tree wasn't there yesterday. You know the singing wasn't. But it's here now. And it's LOUD. Almost unbearably so, enough to come seeping through if you cover your ears. Somehow it even seems to come through if you somehow have the ability (whether mechanical or magical) to seal off your hearing...? If you compliment the tree, however, it stops singing for five minutes. It may even stop altogether if you hug it. But are you willing to risk looking that silly?.

You've been on the Aurora for awhile. Maybe you've even made a few friends! Maybe you've been keeping them at arms length -- even though you know you shouldn't. You know that's not how any of this works.

Either way, you find yourself waking up some place you're not used to-- you're outside the train, no matter where it is you went to sleep. You may not even be sure what it is that woke you up at first -- but then you'll realize. It's the person next to you. Maybe they're still asleep -- maybe they've already woken up and they're staring at you in confusion.

Or maybe they're staring at the handcuffs holding you together. You know, whichever.

There's only one way to get these handcuffs off -- you'll each have to share a memory with each other. It's the only way. So... enjoy that.

You've been on the Aurora for awhile, but you've never heard this kind of noise. It's just dawn, and the backdrop of chirping insects and singing birds is smashed through by the screeching of microphone feedback and the twang of an electric guitar being thoughtlessly strummed. After a moment it goes silent, but when you exit the game you find yourself facing a trial. The setting: a dirty dive bar. The goal: serenade the next person to pass in front of you. You have a stage full of rock instruments, and sparks on the line. The more you emotionally affect your target (any kind of emotion -- laughter included) the closer your team gets to winning!

Whether you've just arrived or whether you've been a longstanding resident of the Aurora Express, you are asleep in your bed when it happens. A flash of light-- and then the sound of tiny objects hitting and bouncing off the roof of the train, abrupt and more solid than rain. Hail? Except it begins and ends too quickly to be hail. It's almost as if the sky opened up and dropped marbles on everything below. Weird.
Whether you wake up in the middle of the night or later on during real person hours, when you step outside... you will find hundreds of tiny star-like objects reminiscent of candy littering the ground. If you touch one you may feel a lingering sense of longing... as if this is something that "belongs" to you, but somehow is out of your reach. An emotion perhaps, or something that you buried deep inside... someone you love, something you covet. Whatever it is, the feeling consumes you until you decide to do the inadvisable.

Should you decide to consume the mysterious sky candy you just found on the ground the feeling that drew you in washes over you like a warm blanket... or a cold one, depending on the flavor of the candy.

Pink: Affection. The desire to love and be loved, or simply the desire to be close to someone. It feels like soft bubbling warmth or a burning need.
Orange: Anger. You've been wronged somehow. Who wronged you, do you remember? It feels like poison that bubbles just beneath the skin or a burst of fire that threatens anyone that comes near.
Yellow: Happiness. Inexplicable and bright, nothing can bring you down and everything is exciting. It feels like a burst of sunlight on a cloudy day, or a rush of energy that can't sit still.
Green: Covetousness. Jealousy and envy, what they have belongs to you, or at least it should. It feels like a painful longing that twists your stomach, or a fidgety itch in your fingers.
Blue: Sorrow. You can only be strong for so long, sometimes you need to break. It feels like a sharp stab in your chest, or a well of emotions that threatens to burst.
White: Wildcard. Go wild?

How long these effects last is up to you... or up to how much candy you eat. Let this be a lesson to you; do not eat things you find on the ground.

You’ve been on the Aurora for a while. You've made it through Trials, maybe gotten some regains and made some friends, but you haven't encountered this.

While you're outside, you see a shadow from the corner of your eye. It seems gone as fast as it came, and you don't get a good look at it. But then, suddenly, your vision goes black -- the shadow wraps itself around you, seeping into your body and leaving you feeling ice cold.

When it's gone, something's empty inside you. The thing you want most -- love, safety, personal gain -- has become a driving force, and you'll do whatever you have to to obtain it. Good thing there's other people to help you out... and that a fearless show of affection will cure your ill.

You’ve been on the Aurora for a while. Have you made some friends? Recovered some memories or powers?

Or have you been a recluse? You should know that's not how this works. You need to get out there and socialize! Today, whether you've been playing along or not, you're waking up to find a thin metal cuff around your wrist. It has a tiny lock, and gives an annoying high-pitched beep every 10 seconds or so. In your hand is an equally tiny key, but it doesn't work in the lock on your own cuff.

As you go about your day, you'll realise the beeping increases in frequency when you travel in a certain direction. Should you follow it, you'll find your assigned partner: a person whose key fits your lock, and whose lock fits your key.

Shortly after your arrival, you find yourself wrapped up in some monster NPC's Game.

You’ve been on the Aurora for a while, and through your time here you’ve met the variety of people. Maybe you’ve even met someone you used to know? But that seems unlikely. Even if you had met them before, would you remember them now?

Whatever the case may be, tonight as you step outside of the train you hear something familiar. A voice. From your distant past perhaps, or one that you are familiar with now, or a voice that belongs to a face you cannot quite place. It’s coming from the jungle. It’s calling to you. It promises you safety and comfort, it promises to take you home where you belong, it promises that you will never be cold or tired or hurt again.

Should you choose to follow this voice far enough into the foliage a pair of warm arms will embrace you-- and you will fall into a deep sleep. Should you fall into a pleasant dream or a terrible nightmare? Either way you are now caught in a dream, your slumbering body prone on the jungle floor… at least until somebody else wakes you. With a kiss, maybe?

Or whatever, it’s up to you how you want to wake your fallen comrades.

You've been in aurora for awhile -- long enough to have recovered a memory/power or two, if you lost any. And it's lucky for you: today, the area around the train has been surrounded in a strange mist that makes you feel dizzy and overly warm. Left alone, your condition will slowly degrade, with increasing lethargy and shortness of breath until you lose consciousness. The cure is easy enough, though -- touch another person and they'll see one of your memories, experiencing it as if it's their own. The effect is mutual -- you now have a piece of eachother, and you're safe from the illness... at least until you take another big breath. Good thing there's no mist inside the train!

You've been on the Aurora for awhile, but you've never seen the train itself affected by the strange creatures and environments of the Stars. Today, however, you'll come out of your carriage into a hallway filled waist-high with what seems to be soap suds. You can open the doors to lower the levels, but the bubbles will continue to spawn seemingly from nowhere. And they're caustic -- the longer you have the "soap" on your skin, the more red and raw it'll become, until it starts to be eaten away entirely.

Outside the train is a clearing, surrounded by a deep jungle. For some reason, you've ventured out into it and run into trouble. You've brushed against a prickly vine, and now are feeling intensely thirsty. The only nearby source of water is a pond -- unfortunately, it lies within a cave, barred by an iron gate. At either side of the gate is a statue of a human standing in a strange, hard-to-balance pose. In order to open the gate, two people must stand on the switch plates on either side and match their poses to the statues. However, every time they step off the plates the statues move into a different pose. You have to get it right without falling, or try to find your way home before you perish of thirst.

Outside the train, a large, strangely spinning cube floats over a pedestal, hissing discordantly and shedding strange black light onto the surrounding area. Beyond lies only shadows and slithering noises, a landscape of tangley thorns and eyes that glow in the dark. Your phone says it's noon, but out here it's midnight under a starless sky. As you step into the dark, an alarm blares -- your phone is sending you an alert.

"Goal: clear the area of snakes," it says. "Remember to use the buddy system!"

Soon you realise that the ground just a few feet away is actually writhing in black snakes with crimson eyes. They'll bite if you approach alone, but as long as you're touching another passenger, they're totally docile. You could easily move them away from the clearing, or toss them into the spooky-looking pit at the edge of it.

You've been here awhile -- at least, long enough to have made some friends. Currently the TV in the public lounge is playing a weird puppet show, where all the puppets look and act like exaggerated versions of you and other passengers. What kind of person do the puppets think you are? Dramatic? Over-affectionate? Surly? It's all in good fun but it's definitely painting you in a light that, if not unpleasant, is certainly embarrassing.
