Your character wakes up in a neat bedroom in their team carriage, in nondescript underwear. They might be missing their memories, or their special abilities, or they may just feel a little queasy. Next to them is what seems to be a smartphone, which they know how to use even if they never had before, even if they don't know if they have before. On the screen is a simple message:

Welcome aboard the Aurora!



You have been selected by the Star Prince as a potential hero, tasked with saving the universe from Malice. As a passenger I, your Construct and Conductor, will attempt to provide you with quality lodgings and safety. In return, we ask that you join your fellows in making bonds and doing your utmost to bring joy back to the Stars.



Due to the process of restoring your body, you may find some things are missing. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to return them to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.

★ One

Upon investigation, you'll find some basic clothes matching your team's theme in the storage provided in your room. Or, perhaps, you're wandering out of the room still undressed. Either way, downstairs you'll find someone has left a tray of cups of hot tea on the living room table. Drinking it may be simply pleasant, or it may cause you to feel a sudden need to warm up to the others in your carriage -- emotionally or physically. Welcome to the team, newbie!



☆ Two

Shortly after your arrival, you find yourself wrapped up in some monster NPC's Game. You're inside what appears to be a stone temple, with a massive golden scale on one wall. Suddenly, on one side, a heavy metal weight is dropped. As the scales tip out of balance, the floor begins to slowly disappear, brick by brick, ready to drop you -- and whoever is with you -- into an abyss. Your only hope comes in the form of an inscription on the altar:

How much do your secrets weigh?

Every secret you tell causes a weight to fall onto the other side of the scale. The bigger the secret, the bigger the weight. If you can collectively tip the scales, the floor will quit dropping bricks and a door will appear to allow you back to the train. If you can't, you'll fall, seemingly forever, til you pass out. When you wake up you'll find yourself unable to lie.



★ Three

You've been on the Aurora for awhile, but this is new. One morning, you awaken to find yourself in the lounge, rather than your own bed. On your Chain is a screen showing a key, with three unmarked check boxes and a note: you've been locked out of your carriage, and must make a meaningful pact of some sort with three people, on or off your team, to enter. Pinky promises are always encouraged!

1A. THE FUCK IS THIS?
[Good morning, everyone! There's a new guy who thinks he's been kidnapped by a psychopath.

Whose team is he on? Who knows, he found his magical phone by his bed next to his Chain and elected to shift into Magical Girl form as soon as possible. Woe be the poor passenger who gets accosted by what looks like a ghoulish woman in a really bad mood.]

Alright, buddy, where the fuck am I and who's holding us hostage?!

[... Someone didn't read the message on his Chain...]

1B. Oh. Uh. Awkward.
[Eventually, Zack realizes that the Construct isn't going to make everyone kill each other and a lot of other people have been here for months. Still doesn't make the whole "being forced into another world" bit any easier, but it could be a whole lot worse.

So he's gone back to his natural, bandaged state and thrown on some random starter clothes that probably don't really go well together. Not the most appealing look, but it's enough to get out of his cabin and into the lounge car. Where he promptly flops into a chair in the dining area. Hey, may as well start talking to the oldbies.]

So, lemme get this straight. We're here because whoever's driving the train wants us to save the universe by making friends?

3. Let me in! LET ME IIIIINNNNN!!!
[Uh... Zack is attempting to bypass the bond activity by going into magical mode and bashing himself into the door. Although he gets enhanced strength in this form (on top of how strong he usually is) all he does is leave a dent in his dorm's door.]

FOR FUCK'S SAKE! [He starts yelling after his sides start aching too much.] LEMME IN, DAMNIT!!!

[80H is busy sweeping a practically spotless floor in the kitchen while some sort of food simmers on the stove. It smells very delicious

She does not look up, keeping to her rhythm.]

Good day. Kindly read the device you arrived with.

[It is that time again, it seems. Lovely.]

Hah...?

[Holy shit, someone's making food. He still wants awnsers from whoever's responsible for this, but. Food...

He goes upstairs for a moment and returns with that device you mentioned...

And sets it on the counter.]

You wanna tell me what it says? I can't read.

[voreaciously]

[That little tidbit gets her to look up and stop sweeping.]

Truly? Very well. I shall assist you.

[She sets the broom aside and curtsies elegantly.]

A pleasure. I am 80H of Jasmine and you have been tasked with saving the universe from a malicious entity--appropriately named Malice--that means to end it. Tea?

[Loki's watching the obviously upset new arrival from a chair of his own with a faint grin of amusement, as if he wasn't also new.]

So it seems. Does it not make you wonder why and how? If it is even the truth.

Yeah, duh. You been here long enough to find out?

[The smile turns into a faint frown. How did you guess he was also new.]

Alas, I have not. I have not seen any indications that we should worry... other than us being taken here without our consent and told that our help is requested.

[Loki is... not sure what to make of this. He has Bad Associations with being taken somewhere and told to do things in exchange for what he needs to live. On the other hand, so far whoever kidnapped him hasn't harmed him or so much as asked him to do something he might object to.

[He lounges in a chair, an illusion of his normal Asgardian attire already hiding his issued uniform, watching the behavior of the others and idly playing with his Chain.]

[How much do your secrets weigh? Even he does not know. He's always had so many secrets, even he can't keep track of them all. But, perhaps that is an advantage. If he has so many, perhaps he can reveal enough to balance the scales without giving them all away, or even giving away any of the most important ones. He starts with a secret that wouldn't mean anything to anyone here.]

I do not possess the Mind Stone. I threw it into the void.

[A tiny weight falls onto the opposite scale. He curses mentally; while it may have counted, it didn't have much effect.]

[80H has grown tired of the sterility of the lounge. Really, most of the entire train and is wheeling plants of all kinds on a push-cart dolly and is about to start placing them when she catches sight of someone she has not seen before.]

Oh. You are newly-arrived.

[Loki gives a small smile of acknowledgement. This woman seems to be acting as a servant, tending to the decorations of the room, and while she seems not entirely outgoing, she also does not seem to be frightened. A good sign.]

What gave me away? [Said with a hint of a chuckle.]

And you have been here some time, then, to consider me a new arrival?

The fact that I have not seen you before and it is New Arrival Day.

[She could be wrong--she avoids people when she can--but she does not think she is, in this case. As for the rest...she pauses for a breath.]

[a young man is sprawled in a chair in the lounge, dressed in his team clothing, hands wrapped around a mug of tea, frowning as he peers at the Chain hovering unassisted in front of his face. he glances up if approached, flashing a brilliant smile.]

Surely this can't be everything that's known. Will you tell me more of it, friend?

[that same young man has made his way to a clearing also occupied by a pair of tigers, who do not seem to appreciate being disturbed. he seems remarkably unconcerned, though, but he glances aside at whoever enters.]

Stand back. This challenge is mine to overcome.

Ummm, by all means, they're all yours.

[hanging back from the clearing, SHE'S not going to mess with tigers. she doesn't seem too alarmed by their presence though

but that might be due to the hellhound at her side— as tall as a man with a borzoi's sleekness, and eyes that are pits of fire. it's watching the tigers alertly.]

[he nods, almost graciously, and apparently that's all it takes.

in that apparent moment of inattention one tiger springs forward, only to be met halfway across the clearing by an unseen force that tears a long gash across its side, as precise as a scalpel. it tumbles away with a yowl, and white flame gushes from the wound, filling the clearing with the smell of burned flesh and knocking it from its feet again in a twitching heap. it still moves, but only barely.

(if Eliza has magesight, she'll easily see the power he reached out with, a crystalline construct of grasping force that briefly shone with a blinding white flame as he struck with it. the nature of the power is clearly inhuman, though he wields it as though it were natural to him.)

the second tiger crouches, reevaluates the situation, then darts low and fast for the hellhound. Xian's eyes narrow and he raises a hand, another wave of unseen force rippling our from him, but it leaps and is only knocked askew from its path, curving back in towards its chosen opponent...]

[ A dragon — around the size of a Very Large Dog, covered from snout to tail-tip in brilliantly iridescent feathers, and also extremely magically powerful — blinks back at him from across the clearing. ]

[ Cheeps like a giant canary. ]

[ And parks her butt on the ground with her tail draped loosely around her paws, ears pricked. ]

Okay!

[he doesn't double-take at the dragon or the obvious magical power, just nods to her graciously]

[one of the tigers, of course, chooses his moment of inattention to spring, halfway across the clearing in the blink of an eye -- but something unseen catches it in mid-bound, cutting a surgically-precise gash down its side and knocking it sprawling off-course. white flame erupts from the wound, and the odor of cooked meat is heavy in the air. Xian turns to track the tiger as it struggles, reeling, to its feet, the only move he's made since the battle began.

the second tiger eyes this, then turns its head towards the dog-sized dragon, obviously considering a change of target.]

[ this is strange, very strange. hatsuharu is standing in the middle of the common room in his underwear and staring at the new phone he has. it's odd. the message is odd. the room he woke up in and the one he is in, is odd too. his underwear is even out of character for him.

hatsuharu hums to himself. his attention moves to whoever else is in the room with him. ]

[ is it just him, or are some of the days just weird? it could be him. adjusting to the aurora has been no problem for hatsuharu, he just goes with the flow after all, but he does come off as too relaxed sometimes. it's why he has no issues with approaching people, be those that look friendly or not.

a meaningful pact doesn't sound too hard to make. ]

Do you have some time? [ and, a good way to make them is by being polite! in theory. ]

[Dusk hears the noise of someone new and is already pulling out eggs because honestly, food has worked out well for greeting newbies and those are quick to make. Has already set down the pan and spices when he turns around to greet the new person.]

although, it's more that hatsuharu doesn't care for what people see. he's used to it given his condition. staring at the ceiling, he hums to himself. ] Yeah, I can remember stuff before waking up.

... Clothes? [ right. clothes. it is a little chilly in here. ] Pink isn't my color, but that's fine I guess.

[ Rin opens her mouth to say something dismissive-- and then she closes it again. Of all the people who could have walked over to her, he was the last one she'd expected. Wanted to see... and didn't want to see. ]

[ She's trying to keep the shock out of her voice, trying to sound cool and unaffected. And definitely not at all like she might scream, burst into tears, or both. ]

[ that's an ice cold reaction, but sadly, he's used to it from rin. that is how she has behaved to him recently. however, it is water off a duck's back because he doesn't let it phase him. why would he? it isn't as if he hates her.

[ Oh--! It's Hatsuharu-san! (Assuming he's introduced himself!) Smiling, Chiharu turns to him with a nod, hands folding in front of her. ]

[ it is nice to see that despite losing her memories, she appears to be the same tohru that he knew. although, it seems like she is going by another name here and who is he to spoil that? not when he doesn’t know what will happen. ]
