Trial Announcement
I'm going to be running an bodyswap explora trial! It is not intended to be a trauma game, per se, but there's likely to be alarming situations and danger, and injury is possible.
The sessions will run for approximately 4~5 hours each:
Saturday 21st - 2PM PST (9PM GMT)
Wednesday 25th - 12:01AM PST (7AM GMT)
Wednesday 25th - 11AM PST (6PM GMT)
Friday 27th - 6PM PST (2AM GMT)
(ALSO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RUN ONE OF THE PM SESSIONS, or a separate one, please let me know! P L E A S E.)
!! Please sign up by Thursday 19th if you intend to play! I need time to organise the swaps, and you need time to make your temporary journals. Additionally, remember that part of the fun of bodyswap is the Mystery of who's who.
Sign up HERE with your character names; you can play two characters, but please try to put them in separate sessions. Then comment below with the following information:
EDIT, NEW INFO:
Note on magic, powers, etc: If you're playing a character who's magic is tied to their soul, it doesn't mean that it's compatible with the body and you will not be able to use it for the duration of the game.

QUESTIONS ETC
WANNA RUN??
Ginger
Faito
Name: Faito
Team: Ginger
What's it like to be your character?: A 100% normal human girl, albeit one covered from head to toe in scars. She's also weirdly stronger than her slight stature would suggest! She can do stuff like crack walls by throwing desks at them. She works out a lot and has good stamina, but she is somewhat sleep deprived.
Powers and abilities: She has a magic pendant that nobody but her can use, as it's tied directly to her soul. Please do not lose or damage this.
Thyme
Re: Thyme
Name: Mao
Team: Thyme
What's it like to be your character?:
Mao is an ordinary human boy. He is currently missing his right arm, cut off at the bicep. There is a metal port grafted onto it where a prosthetic would have gone, and some scarring around the area that still aches sometimes. He has a bunch of other scars dotted around his body that do look like they should come from a warrior, but he's not actually that physically strong and nothing about his build indicates a fighter.
Powers and abilities: Mao has a fancy magic ring that is connected to Meridian on Clover and acts as a kind of soulbond contract to channel her powers. Mao himself may not be innately magical, but through his contract, he has the power to transform into a magical knight boy with different colours depending on what element he's channeling. Please note that without his arm, you'll have a floppy sleeve and the glove that normally covers his mechanical hand will just fall off. He can also summon a sword, a fancy magic shield, give stat boosts to himself and others, and generate a whole lot of fire power. This is NOT natural or easy for him, and would be difficult to activate without knowing it's there.
However IF your character is super magical and manages to key into it, here's a breakdown of the powers:
Fire — Hair turns iridescent red, outfit is red. You gain a fancy fire wand that can grow into a large staff if you wanna smack some people. It can create and shape fire.
Air — Hair turns iridescent silver, outfit is a pale shimmery gold. You gain a fancy sword that has AIR SLICES. Air can be used to blow things around but requires delicate precision for any actual control. This includes making yourself fly, if you don't do it carefully you're just gonna throw yourself into the ceiling.
Earth — Hair turns iridescent green (the shorter cut but more the iridescenty colour of the right), outfit is green. You gain a fancy shield and the power to grow fancy vines and plants, and create small localised earthquakes.
Water — Hair turns iridescent blue, outfit is blue. This is the hardest element for Mao to control, because the item is one you have to form yourself. There's no conduit to channel the element through, it relies on magical talent to shape and control water into something you can use. Often he makes a blobby kind of water whip with it that has poor control and just tends to splash around a lot, but if your character is a talented magical user you can make any kind of water weapon your heart desires! This is also the element that creates the stat boost potions, you can imbue any kind of buff you want on water for yourself or someone else to drink.
Re: Thyme
Name: Eliza
Team: Thyme
What's it like to be your character?: Eliza doesn't get enough sleep and drinks too much coffee, but she's in good physical health. Now you can run a 10k, neat! BUT Eliza's body is made to be supported by magic-- unless the resident soul is producing energy, it will suffer weariness, low fever, and aches like a bad body cold. She has a patch of white scales on her chest where she was killed in the murdersnake trial.
Powers and abilities: All of Eliza's necromancy and etc. go with her soul, not with her body. If you can find whatever body Eliza is in however, being in contact with her will alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. AND SHE CAN TURN INTO A BLONDE FLUFFY WOLF.
no subject
Name: Towa Herschel
Team: Thyme
What's it like to be your character?: It's the feeling of being a very short, tiny human. GOOD LUCK GETTING TO THOSE HIGH SHELVES NOW.
That said-- sleep deprivation is also something she's accustomed to putting herself through for the sake of work. If you're not used to it, it's probably going to be a world of hurt. She's gotten used to it so that you'd hardly notice, but it's definitely still there. She works her body really hard, so she is very fit-- but she's also pushed herself a great deal over the years. She's still young though, so her body bounces back very well.
Emotionally, Towa is very hard on herself and is dissatisfied with a lot of aspects of herself. These are things she is trying to work on however, being treated like a child or having aspects of her physique that she's sensitive about pointed out-- feels bad. She sure is jealous of women with real curves. Overall, however, Towa's emotions are primarily positive ones. She has a bright, optimistic spirit and pushes herself really hard. Her instinct is to relieve the burdens on everyone else and do everything she can to support them.
Powers and abilities: Towa does not have the important item related to her powers-- only her magic gun. So the most you can do is fire magical attacks through her large hand-held orbal gun.
Re: Thyme
Name: Felix
Team: Thyme
What's it like to be your character?: Enjoy being a demon. You get shiny new claws and fangs and jet black feathered wings. Good luck figuring out how to draw them back. You get two special scars in this package: one on your chest (just at your heart) that's slightly darker than your regular pale-ish tone and one on the back of your neck (see here for description). The neck one HURTS if anyone touches it. Other than that, you get some good muscle and nice agility bonus! Also white scales around his neck from his death to murdersnake.
Powers and abilities: Most of Felix's Knight of Hell powers are tied to his soul so you can't access those. But hey, you get a shiny amulet at least. Your demon blood allows you to heal others with your blood though. The amount of blood you need to spill depends on the severity of the injury.
Oh and you can do the Thyme wolf transformation, if you like. You can go full wolf or just various wolfy parts.
Sorry, since Other Self is connected to his soul, that's going to stay with Felix. :(
Senna
Solar Flare
Name: Solar Flare
Team: Senna
What's it like to be your character?: Chances are, she's gonna be a pony. However, her hair clip will allow someone to change between forms. Up to you if they figure that out.
As a human, pretty normal late teenage feeling wise. Sense of touch is somewhat sensitive thanks to years of fur, but nothing extreme. Solar herself is actually fairly athletic.
Also she has a large tattoo over her neck and down her back to her side she got after snake game. It's in both forms. If for some reason your character consumes meat, you WILL get sick, her body is entirely unused to meat products. Eggs, milk, and fish however, are safe to eat. (Ponies will apparently eat fish, thanks existence of Hippogrifs making that fact known.)
As a pony: Is a pony. While possible to balance and move on hindlegs, it's very hard to do, especially over time. Very posable legs though, so no worries there. Hooves can also hold things. How? No idea! It also seems like if the pony THINKS about their hooves holding a thing, it will fall, so it's probably some subconscious tactile telekinesis magic. Their tails are also somewhat prehensile. It can be manipulated to scoop or cover things. No fine motor skills in a tail, but it can be used to throw a ball so yeah. (Ponies are Weird.)
Singing. Random dance numbers are an acknowledged phenomenon. You want to do a random music number because it's thematically fitting for what your character is doing, have at.
PLEASE do not lose either her hair clip or necklace.
Powers and abilities: In general: Fairly good at taking a magical hit, she can get up again after a magical blast. Extremely strong mental defenses, though not invulnerable. She's able to resist charms, byproduct mental alterations (such as memory loss due to time loops), and at least slow down the loss of memory caused by a memory stealing artifact.
The Power of Friendship. Probably not applicable, but gosh, if you're having SUPER DRAMATIC FRIENDSHIP moment with someone and need rainbow lasers, go wild, have fun fam.
Human: Ponying up. Any super emotional singing or said dramatic power of friendship moment while human will lead to getting pony ears and extra long hair. Potentially an outfit change. It's very glittery and rainbowy.
Pony: Solar is a unicorn and thus has unicorn magic. Unfortunately, most unicorn magic runs on knowing the MATH and SCIENCE behind a spell. Which is unlikely for your character, but they WILL have access to telekinesis and Solar is STRONG. You want to lift something the size of a house? That won't be an easy lift, but it can be done. It can also be used on multiple directions, that just depends how well your character can focus. Telekinesis can also run wild if the user is inexperienced. Also wild bursts of magic can happen if the user is in a dangerous, life or death scenario, but it's very much uncontrolled chaos in that case. Magic is all channeled through the unicorn hour and there is a magical red aura around her hair and anything she's using the magic on.
ELEMENT OF HARMONY: Okay, so this. Sorry you have to read all this, but ponies are bullshit and so are Elements of Harmony. Solar is currently in possession of an Element. In her human form, it's a necklace. Its inside her body as a pony. So the Element can be accessed in either form.
BUT HERE IS THE THING.
Elements of Harmony react in personalized ways. Solar gets empathy/telepathy/memory reading magic from hers because what she represents is Empathy. And this can change. Because when Solar used an Element as a bad person, her power was Mind Control and Altering Of Others, the bad inverse of those abilities, and that was using Twilight's. So anyone in possession of Solar's necklace does not get Solar's power.
They get what would be their Element of Harmony.
Now what's a person's element? It's a thing that's a core part of them and a core part of how they relate to other people. Sunset went from controlling others to doing her best to understand them, and her powers made that easier. And sometimes this is a little vaguer on how it works.
Dash is speed because loyalty means being at someone's side when they need it. Rarity is shields because generously giving protection. Fluttershy is talking to animals because it makes it easier to be kind and ask for kindness from different sources. Applejack is strength because the truth is unrelenting and undeniable and strength is a pretty honest power. Pinkie Pie is explosion of sweet because that's chaotic and fun. Twilight is magic so she gets the epitome of unicorn magic, telekinesis, and the versatility of such.
So what is your character's element of harmony is for you to determine and what that power is. How well they can control said power also depends how much they're willing to embrace the magic. The more harmoniously they want to work with it, the easier it is, the more they reject, the worse.
And if your character is one who is Bad At Friendship And Being Harmonious???
The Element can corrupt them. When Sunset first wielded an element, she got turned into a she-demon and all her worst traits got turned up to a hundred. However, corruption is avoidable as long as the character never tries to USE the element. It can be possessed safely. If they try to use it? Well, it works fast. And once it's removed, all memories will remain, as well as being slammed in the face with all your character flaws that self delusion may have blinded you to.
So have fun.
Also no wings, temp alicorn status is just Solar's thing.
Re: Senna
Name: Loki
Team: Senna
What's it like to be your character?: Loki is super strong and super durable. Very little phases him physically, it generally takes hits from someone on his own strength level to even hurt him, and he could cause serious injury to normal humans with very little effort. He's also constantly under a subtle illusion that someone might not even sense, which makes him appear Asgardian rather than a blue Frost Giant.
Powers and abilities: Most of Loki's magic skill will go with his mind, as it's because of training. His body probably has some innate affinity for magic, if another magic user gets it and wants to try using their old spells, but a newbie would have to start learning his magic from the ground up. He also has Frost Giant abilities, which include being able to induce a dangerous frostbite with a touch and create and manipulate ice; these powers are easier to use instinctively, but only if they are known about, and knowledge of their existence doesn't come with the body.
Jasmine
no subject
Name: 80H
Team: Jasmine
What's it like to be your character?: She is actually a robot. Well, android. And dead!
There's a sensation of something moving, wriggling, furling and unfurling inside her at all times. It's unnerving and uncomfortable as hell.
The blindfold she wears is actually goggles, so you can see just fine and, on it, you can see a HUD with her MP and HP. There are actually a bunch of typical video game settings, but they're ICly present. You can adjust the brightness and contrast, for example, like you would a game, it would just be her vision. She also has a self-destruct enabled, so that's nice. No, you can't disable it.
I dunno if it would come up but there's an increased desire to live and survive.
Congrats, you're always hungry and you crave eating people!
Powers and abilities: Her body and soul do contain magic, but you have to know what you're doing to access most of it, especially the finer stuff. Very emotional outbursts might trigger some things, but they will be hard to control. She is incredibly fucking strong but properly calibrated so you won't be like bending steel by accident or something.
Licorice
no subject
Name: Yuurei/Saenoki Naho
Team: Licorice
What's it like to be your character?: Saenoki Naho is actually dead. To look at her, most people would never know. It is worth noting that if they look past her glasses into her eyes, they tend to have a clouded look to them that is the main sign that something is not quite right with her.
But the memory loss covers up a lot of the emotional trauma. She was affected by something known as the Darkening when she died, and that isn't completely gone. However, without awareness, it's been pushed down. What the Darkening does is twist emotions in unhealthy ways. It clouds one's judgment and make it possible for the person to do things they never wanted to. In this state, it's weak, and the person may never run into it. THAT SAID. The more alarming the situation, the more it will try to rise to the surface.
If it stays down, for all intents and purposes she seems like a normal high-school girl. Perhaps a bit more serious on the outside than most, but she's sharp. And while she dislikes idiots and those who'd make her repeat herself, she doesn't mind people and generally errs towards politeness.
Powers and abilities: Yuurei herself is not aware of this right now, but she is a spirit medium. Even before her death, she could commune with the dead-- not just talk to them, but see their spirits in the world. She's also capable of creating charms of an almost witch-like fashion. Her charm in canon allowed them to travel to a haunted dimension-- there's definitely more to her than meets the eye. It's a very witch-like power. The Book of Shadows had been full of magics passed down through the hands of those with great spiritual power that even went as far as changing fate.
Of course, that's not here and she doesn't know them so. If they want to try something, they'll have to figure it out themselves. Hope you like chanting, paper charms and magic circles.
Clover
Dusk
Name: Dusk/Agent Washington
Team: Clover
What's it like to be your character?: Listen, he's middle aged, and he's had a rough life and SO MANY SURGERIES. He's got lots of aches and pains from old scars and in his joints. Nothing debilitating, but going from a younger/supernaturally healthy body to his, it can be felt.
He's kind of sensitive to touch. Years of armor does that.
He is fully human, but dear god, he is covered in scars. So many scars. Everywhere. He should be dead dozens of times over and he's not. He's also got scars from surgery from getting stuff put in his muscles and on his bones and various things to save his life.
He has two chips implanted at the base of his skull and an empty port. There are wires in his brain.
There is A Ton of muscle memory for fighting. People don't have access to his memories, but they might find trusting those instincts very helpful.
The body is also Tired. Because someone hasn't been sleeping well. It can run well with his limited sleep, but there is definitely tired.
He does have a magic pedant. Do not lose this. Unfortunately people can't use this because it's connected specifically to his soul.
He has. So many weapons on his person. He has an Orbal (RPG energy) Gun, he has an Actual Gun, he has two combat knives, and three throwing knives all hidden all over his body. Don't lose the guns please, and try not to lose all the knives, but one or two is fine.
Powers and abilities: SO THOSE SURGERIES. Dusk has been made into a supersoldier.
He's strong enough to pick up a tree trunk, and his bones are near unbreakable by normal means. He wouldn't exactly achieve superspeed, but he reach top human speeds and he can run a real long time. Endurance is through the roof. Very flexible for a brickhouse dude. If the mind is willing, the body will refuse to give up until days have passed, or an excessive amount of force is applied to it or at least the head. He doesn't need to sleep or eat much to function, though it's generally more pleasant to do so regularly.
He also has extremely good night vision. He can't see in the dark, but he can usually make out something as long as it's not pitch black. He has fairly good hearing too. Reaction time is also extremely good, potentially disorientatingly good.
His brain is kind of fucked up thanks to AI explosion. Your character will find anything they experience in his body, they will be able to recall with perfect clarity. Like saw a recording on HD camera clarity. There is potential to zone the fuck out and get stuck in memories for hours if someone doesn't snap them out of the haze. Lots of potential for getting disorientated between enhanced senses and memory fuckery, how much depends how you want to play with it.
He can also be linked up to technology thanks to the tech shoved in his head and the port. If signals reach out for his head specifically, he can hear it, though most tech doesn't have compatible frequencies to do that without a physical link. (AI's have done it, nothing else has.) But he can connect to things if he so desires, if it's neural link operated.
He was also at the center of time imploding in his universe if your character would pick that up for whatever reason.
Meridian
Name: Meridian
Team: Clover
What's it like to be your character?:
She's a magical shapeshifting dragon! Whoever gets her has the choice to start in her dragon form, or in her human one. Either way: she has no scars, aches, or pains, and she's (very) strong, durable, and in peak health. No sleep deprivation here. All of her senses are far, far sharper than a human's.
In her dragon form: her ears and tail are very expressive. In her human form, the fluffy ear-like tufts of hair are similarly super expressive (and if angry or startled, her nails sharpen to claws). Good luck hiding whatever you're feeling!
Also she's a female alpha, which, yes, is as ABO/omegaverse as it sounds. It won't really change much, just note that she's physically intersex.
See here for more.
Powers and abilities:
Shapeshifting between her dragon and human form (not super easy but can be figured out without a ton of difficulty); changing her size; inhuman strength and endurance; excellent night-vision; excellent hearing and sense of smell; a powerful, ethereal singing voice, capable of touching the hearts and souls of those around her (similar to the Phoenix Song in Harry Potter); flight in her dragon form, though anyone who tries that might want to, uh, practice, if they're not already used to having wings; fire-breathing, also in her dragon form; her saliva has healing properties.
She's essentially magic incarnate, both body and soul! Anyone in her body will be able to sense that the magic is there, but it's very difficult to use without already knowing how.
- Element manipulation (water, air, fire, and earth) including creating them. Earth encompasses controlling plants and encouraging their growth.
- Temperature manipulation
- Generating sparks and lightning
- Healing
- FOR INFO she also has light, dark, gravity, time, and space magic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but while somebody super magical may be able to sense these aspects of who/what she is, they're not usable.
Mao on Thyme has a magical ring that connects the two of them like a contract, allowing him to channel her powers. You're welcome to sense the connection.
Roxas
Name: Roxas
Team: Clover
What's it like to be your character?: So you are a Replica. Okay, so this is SPECIAL. It means your body shapes itself based on your heart. For the sake of keeping to the nature of a bodyswap game, we'll say you can alter your eye/hair color to whatever your character wants. But whatever you choose with will be permanent so long as you're in Roxas' body. Otherwise, you are short but SURPRISINGLY STRONG. You also feel like you're missing something... It's a nagging feeling in the back of your mind. Something's not quite right!
Powers and abilities: Sorry the Keyblade belongs to the heart of the wielder and manifests in whatever their current form is so no Keyblade for you. 8( You do still get some cool abilities though! Since for the sake of making this fun, I'm saying the physical abilities are muscle memory, while the Magic is connected to the Keyblade so it remains with Roxas.
Physical Abilities: All of Sora's Kingdom Hearts 1 move sets, yeah we'll say you can do them with whatever weapon (with the exception of Zantetsuken) and the ability to literally run up buildings.
Guard: Can create sphere-like barrier around self that lasts a few seconds at a time.
